When we think of someone dangerous and armed, the image of someone threatening, intimidating, whom we should fear immediately comes to mind. But perhaps we don’t have that image about ourselves. Yes, we are dangerous, we are armed, but many times we do not know.
In Luke 4: 31-37 is the story of how a demonized man in the synagogue, without Jesus practically doing nothing, was released. Jesus was going to teach and there was that man, to whom Jesus had not even spoken, and he raised his voice saying: Leave us; what do you have with us, Jesus of Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are, the Holy One of God. Jesus rebuked him saying: Shut up and get out of him. And the demon came out of him and did him no harm.
The mere presence of Jesus had put in danger the thing that bothered this man. She didn’t even need to speak so that what was in that man manifested her discomfort and made herself felt. But Jesus did not make a scandal, just an expression of authority was enough for that demon to go out and set that man free.
This is how God longs for His children to be seen. We are spiritual beings who are a threat in the spiritual world and we must understand that we are armed. God designed and endowed us with everything necessary to govern in the spiritual world, but since we do not know our identity, we cannot see or understand what this implies for our lives. Instead of spiritual beings, we have become soulish beings, we have allowed the soul to rule over the spirit and that is what does not allow us to see ourselves as more than conquerors, nor to be able to identify our identity as children, moving in the levels of the eternity in which we were created.
It is time to remember that in Him we live, and move, and are – Acts 17:28. What makes us carry within ourselves its essence, its power, its authority, its glory. And this makes us dangerous and armed with everything in the spirit world. Let us begin to see ourselves as He sees us, it is the only way that we can be what we really are.
