Just say yes

Even as young people, it is always a good time to understand how much God loves me and how much I am part of his plans for this world. It is very possible that many times, because we are young, we cannot see ourselves as part of God’s plan. We think our age is a limitation and we do not feel mature or capable enough to be used by God. Could not be farther from the truth. David was about 17 years old when he was separated to be king of Israel. His son Solomon, who was his successor to the throne, was around the same age when he began to reign. Josiah, another well-known king of Israel, began to reign at age 8. Awesome!

It is very possible that at that age, there were some doubts, fears, and concerns in their hearts, because they were very young and perhaps the least that was on their mind was having so much responsibility in their hands. But definitely, God was not looking at that detail.

Perhaps today yourself, no matter how old you are, you do not feel capable enough to exercise the call of God. Many times we look at our pastors or our leaders, exercising a function that seems so weighty or so responsible, that we think that if we were in that position, we could not do it.

That is where the power to trust God and what He has put in us comes in. I want to tell you that, at times like these, our senses deceive us. All of our senses may well tell us that we are not ready to serve in God’s plan. We have been invaded with ideas that lead us to think the opposite. They lead us to look at our age, our economic situation, what the people I surround myself with, our little knowledge or who knows how many more things will say. Sometimes, without having anything to do with age, we feel so small and insignificant, we see ourselves as worthless, not worthy of being chosen by God to serve in his work.

It is important that you know something, and that is that God chose you, counting on your yes. Because, when you say yes to the Lord, and you choose Him, over thinking of all the ideas that limit you, then His grace comes into play. And his grace is God’s way of telling you: By your own strength, by your own knowledge, with your own resources, you will not do it, but through my son, you will achieve it, let my son show you how do it and everything will be fine.

God has a wonderful plan for this time and young people are in his heart to carry it out. He is looking at fresh, innovative, daring hearts and minds that dare to trust Him. A generation of brave men who dare to say: Here I am, send me. 1 John 2: 14-15 says: ¹⁴ I have written to you, fathers, because you have known him who existed from the beginning. I HAVE WRITTEN TO YOU YOUNG PEOPLE, BECAUSE YOU ARE STRONG, HAVE THE WORD OF GOD ROOTED IN YOUR HEARTS AND HAVE OVERCOME THE EVIL. ¹⁵ Do not love the world or what is in it. He who loves the world does not love the Father. (New Living Bible)

Young people are the force that God is calling for this time, and he says that they have the word of God rooted in their hearts and have overcome the evil one. God saw them overcoming, overcoming obstacles, fulfilling His purpose, choosing Him above this world and what it offers. Can you see God counting on you for his plans? Can you see yourself as an important part of God’s plan? Can you believe that He is capable of giving you what you seem or think you do not have to fulfill his purpose? Can you see yourself choosing God over all ideas that seem to be contrary? Today I invite you to say yes to God. Nothing will bring more satisfaction to your life than knowing you are used by God, than having said to him as his own son said without fear: Father, here I am, send me. God wants to count on you, He only needs a willing and brave heart that knows that, through his son, the plan will be completed to the end, because his grace is greater and leads you to fulfill above all else.
