You can choose

As human beings we have an incredible capacity for learning, we learn and are influenced since we are in the mother’s cloister. I was a teacher in childbirth preparation classes and I always remember the story of this dad who loved music and used to play his instrument next to his wife’s belly, continually exposing his baby to the melody of it. Years later, when his son was still too young to play the instrument, he impressively approached him one day and without anyone telling him how, he began to extract sound from the instrument in an incredible way.

We have no limits when it comes to learning. No matter how old we are, we are always skilled at learning anything. Relearning is also possible, so it is important that we learn to choose the ideas that fill our minds, because our thoughts program us, and we do not realize it. Every thought that we turn into an expression, will end up becoming a fact in our life. And from our childhood we have been taught with many limiting ideas and concepts that today shape our lives. I remember reading a verse that said, “If you keep talking negative things about your life, you will end up becoming a prophet.”

In the time in which we find ourselves living, it is very easy to be contaminated with words of pessimism, stress, illness, sadness, in short, of things that carry us and drain us. You don’t realize that you end up talking about the same thing, entering the current of pessimism, of the fear that permeates the environment. And in the midst of so much heaviness, you can hardly see the positive, the beautiful. And, like the boy in my story, the tune you play is what you’re full of. Maybe you can tell me that it’s about being realistic, because it’s about what’s around us. So I ask you: What is your reality? Is it your reality that everyone lives? Or, can you see a different reality when you look at God? Do you really want the reality of this world to be your reality? Don’t you long for something different?

Today you can choose your reality. The world and its circumstances have nothing new to offer you. Historically, humanity has always had conflicts, wars, diseases and calamities. As a good Puerto Rican would say: “the same dog, but with a different collar.” That will not change. But what is in your mind, which is what really changes your life, does not have to adapt to what your eyes see or what surrounds you. God offers a different reality for his children, those who know that their reality and their life have nothing to do with this world, because their reality is in Him. Your thoughts determine your life, do not allow the lie of this world to overshadow the God’s truth to you. Get into a relationship with Him and let His truth be yours. You will see how your life will change. It is not too late to change. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts more than your thoughts” – Isaiah 55: 9. Let your thoughts be raised to their heights and you will see that seeing as He sees, nothing will be the same. Blessings.
