All my life I grew up and congregated in what I call pastoral church. And I call them that way because they are churches where the pastor does everything. We make him an overloaded person, because, in addition to the responsibility he has to feed the sheep, watch over the order of the house and lead a congregation according to God’s plan for, which he placed in his hands and for which he will have to give an account, not to mention the care of his own family and personal matters and the time he needs to devote to his own growth and spiritual nourishment (there is no other way he can bring fresh pastures to his house if he does not receive for himself first) , people are not happy if it is not the pastor of the house who prays for them, does not receive them to tell him their problems of family, work, financial conflicts, among other things. We see them as the only figure (or at least the main figure) to cast out demons, pray for the sick and attend to our affairs. Sadly I saw this for years in my life and I saw how the shepherds themselves promote this culture that has not helped to grow and position the people of God and have identity. It may sound harsh or unfriendly, but the truth is that I think this is a big part of the reason why many christians have no identity and often do not have a personal relationship with God either, because they depend on the pastor or the leaders for everything.
We have not seen a large part of God’s people with the power to cast out demons, pray for the sick, minister lives (we take them to the pastor also to pray for them and give them a word because many times we do not even know how to give someone a word). And I do not want to be misunderstood, I respect and honor the figure of the pastor (I myself have pastoral call). What I want to try to convey to you and what I want for you to understand is that what you carry within you is large and powerful enough that you can do many of the things you call the pastor by yourself.
When Jesus said: In my name they will cast out demons, heal the sick, bring freedom to the captives and do greater things than He did, He spoke of his whole church and not of the leaders. The ministries of the church are there to establish an order in it, but not to limit power and authority only for them. It is time that you begin to see what lives in you, the kingdom of God is in you. You also carry his greatness, his power, his glory. When you begin to know the finished work of Jesus and understand that it IS NOT limited for some, you will be able to find and live the greatness of God throughout your life
The Bible says in Romans 8:19: Because the burning desire of creation is to await the manifestation OF THE SONS OF GOD. It says "OF THE SONS", not only of the pastors and leaders of the church. If you accepted it in your heart, you are a son. God has put eternity in you, and set it to be made manifest here on earth now, not when He comes. This is the time of the church, you have to believe it and understand it so you can manifest it. Enough of not seeing you as God created you and not seeing the purpose for which you were designed.
