What does your mirror say?

Somehow or other, we have all been hurt by someone. A hurtful word or action can appear in our lives, from developing children to old age. Every word we receive is feeding or hurting our self-esteem. It is very common, culturally speaking, that we get used to using names or nicknames to call us. Often the nickname is the diminutive of our name, for example, but many others, we are named by some particular characteristic that we possess (skinny, fat, we wear glasses, complexion color). Similarly, if we are restless, curious (inquisitive), slow-paced or little slower to learn than others. Some adjectives praise us and feed us the estimate, others are not so pleasant and can be pitiful, even when those who use it do it in a joking tone or “affection”, as some parents often say. On the other hand there is overprotection, where they generally see us as helpless or with little capacity to do things. This also makes us feel inferior and we compare ourselves to others because we are dissatisfied with ourselves and with how we are or how we look.

No matter what the situation is, what I want you to see is, how many times we grow with a stamp on us that marks us forever. If we have parents or influencers around us who will reinforce our estimation, we may be able to overcome many fears and have much more progress than those who do not have it because the seal they received limited their forces for advancement and emotional growth. In the mirror, we see that person who is defined by the concepts and defined with which we were marked. And many times we do not like what our mirror says.

But today I want to share a word that impacted my life, it is found in 2 Corinthians 3:18 – So all of us, with our faces uncovered, reflect the glory of the Lord as if we were mirrors. And the Spirit of the Lord is transforming us from glory to glory, and we become more and more like him. (New Living Bible)

Although it is true that we can be marked, throughout our lives, by a hurtful word, a comment that hurt us in a moment of limitations, the demands of our culture (because to be beautiful, intelligent, recognized and accepted we must meet certain criteria) among other things, more certain is that the one who created us has for us a different mirror from the one we have looked at all our lives. Today the Father wants you to look in the mirror that was designed for you, Jesus. Jesus is the perfect image through which you should look at your life. The word teaches us that when Jesus went to the cross, He did a complete work for our lives. That perfect work goes far beyond just salvation and healing. Jesus was humiliated, despised, mistreated and mocked so that through what He went through, we would have victory over each of those feelings. The blood that came from each slap and the blows that disfigured his face, was enough so that today you and I could reign above that.

It is not about how others have seen you or what they have ever said about you.

It is about what He says and what He accomplished for you in His entire work. Today you have to understand that by changing who defines your value, you redefine the way you see yourself. Can you receive the love of God as an absolute truth in your life? He loves you and accepts you because when he made you he saw you perfect. Can you see yourself as He sees you?

Today I want to invite you to celebrate. Do you know that Jesus sings to you with love? Zephaniah 3:17: Jehovah is in your midst, mighty, he will save; he will rejoice over you with joy, he will remain silent with love, HE WILL REJOICE ABOUT YOU WITH SONGS.

He rejoices in his creation and you have to believe that you are the best part of his creation and that he made you perfect. Love yourself, value yourself, and accept yourself as He does. The Bible says that we are a jewel of great price and that He took care of every detail of your life. Do not underestimate the work of great value that you are, start seeing yourself today as your creator sees you. Blessings.
