You are the answer

Faced with the changes it has faced, not only our society, but also our world, perhaps many of us have realized how much it takes for many things to change. We may think that a change is needed in the government, in the health systems, in the management of social situations, in business and commerce, which have affected the economy so much, and in so many other things. Perhaps we hope that those who lead us can find alternatives that bring relief to all these issues that concern us as a society.

The history of the people of Israel comes to my mind, as before Jesus came to earth, they had been waiting for a liberator, someone to change the situation that as a people they were facing due to the great oppression under the Roman government. However, they could not recognize or accept it because it did not come the way they expected. So they crucified him. He himself spoke to them and told them in Matthew 11: 12- “From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”

Jesus had come to establish his kingdom in the midst of his people, the freedom he offered them was much greater than what they expected, but they limited him by waiting only for a change in government, and they could not see the fullness of the kingdom of the Heavens that came to deliver them, not only from the yoke and oppression of a government, but also from the law under which they lived. But the first to rise up against him were those who were teachers of the law, like the scribes and Pharisees.

We are facing a time very similar to that. Perhaps the world today is under great oppression by those who control the world’s great interests and we find ourselves waiting for a miraculous response that stops everything we are going through. But today I want to tell you that the change that the world is not only waiting for, but needs, is you and me. The answer and the change for the world we have the children of God.

That is why I am believing for a generation that is rising, that can hear very loudly within its being the voice that cries out from eternity: “you are the answer to change”. I’m talking to you, you who read me today, you need to know and understand that you are the answer.

We cannot see ourselves as the answer if we are united with the voices of fear, despair, discouragement and sadness, if we are just as hidden as the others, allowing ourselves to be invaded by the news we hear or by the life situations we face. Jesus said in the text I mentioned, that only the violent take it away, and the violent are those who know that in order to be brave, the opposition will rise. For healing to be seen, the disease must first have been exposed, for light to be seen, there must first be darkness, and so on. That is why we should not be afraid. Jesus had to face all of that and overcame it, and made us more than conquerors.

Today you and I are the brave ones of Jesus, those who know that we are the change no matter what stands up against it. Perhaps our own will rise up against us, Jesus went to his own and they did not receive him, but even so he did not stop. That today you and I can be that light, that answer, that change that our world needs. Do not echo the voices of lament and sadness, join the voice of God who today tells you that He has promised to be with us to the end and the work that He already began through our lives will finish it.
